In 2010, we heavily investigated Tennessee as a possible homestead location. Tennessee was a very beautiful place with so many boxes checked. I used to live there when I was younger and absolutely loved the climate, the seasons, hills, trees, creeks, etc. We looked in central and East TN. The best location we could find for nearly every checkbox was around Sneedville, TN in the far upper North East of TN. It was simple beautiful….

But, we quickly uncovered that Tennessee was unbelievably expensive with their new taxes, impact fees, building codes, inspections, etc. After months and months of research and even an attempted purchase of raw land, we decided TN was not going to be the place for us. 

Our desires to move were as strong as ever.
